URDANETA CITY TURNS 20

Urdaneta City marks its historic 20th City Charter Anniversary on March 18-24, 2018 by celebrating its centenarians and service partners as well as its various advocacies.

A Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Bishop Jacinto Jose on March 18 kicks off the festivities. The next day, March 19, the City Schools Division of Urdaneta is initiating the Laro ng Lahi Challenge, a competition among the various schools on traditional games such as sipa, sungka, patintero, and hilahan ng lubid.

The youth leaders of Urdaneta converge on March 20 at the Urdaneta City University Gym for a symposium-training on leadership and citizenship entitled #YES Urdaneta: Youth Empowerment Seminar. The activity is in coordination with the Office of Board Member Chinky Perez-Tababa.

During the 20th City Charter Anniversary on March 21, four centenarians will be feted along with the top business and real property taxpayers. The City Government’s service partners from the academe, national agencies, religious community, and non-government organizations will also be recognized for their valuable contributions to programs such as the Tulungan Sa Purok and Adopt-A-River and to service centers like the Bahay Pag-Asa, the Stimulation and Therapeutic Center, and the Senior Citizens’ Center.

Love will fill the air on March 22 as the Maligayang Basbas ng Pag-Iisang Dibdib, the city’s annual free mass wedding, take center stage with Mayor Amadeo Gregorio Perez IV solemnizing the union of some 100 couples.

The yearly Urdaneta City Charter Anniversary Job Fair will be on March 23 with 1,500 job openings offered by 50 national and local companies. The City Health Office will also launch its Zumba! program as part of the city’s healthy lifestyle advocacy.

On March 24, Urdaneta City will once again add its voice to the observance of Earth Hour by switching off its lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
